Connect cURL

You need cURL and a generated connection. This example keeps the password out of your command history.

Create a private settings file

In your terminal:

touch ~/.proxylane-curl.conf
chmod 600 ~/.proxylane-curl.conf
nano ~/.proxylane-curl.conf

In the editor, add this line. Replace the placeholder with the full proxy URL from ProxyLane’s Format selector and Copy button; keep the quotes.

proxy = "PASTE_YOUR_CONNECTION_URL_HERE"

Save with Control+O, press Enter, then exit with Control+X.

Make a request

curl --config ~/.proxylane-curl.conf --max-time 30 \
  'https://api.ipify.org?format=json'

The response should contain an ip value.

Compare with your normal connection

curl --noproxy '*' 'https://api.ipify.org?format=json'

A different IP helps confirm the route changed. If both match, check your settings. Then try your intended website.
