Connect one browser profile to ProxyLane and check its internet protocol (IP) address.

Before starting

In the ProxyLane dashboard, open Advanced options and set Protocol to SOCKS5. Select Keep the same IP for a browsing session, then generate a new connection and copy its values. A sticky session can still change address if its connection becomes unavailable.

SOCKS5 is the proxy protocol used in this guide. Select it in both ProxyLane and the browser app.

Connect BitBrowser

Create a browser profile

Open Browsers and click Add browser. Older versions use Browser Profiles and Add. Enter a profile name.

Choose an external proxy

Select Custom Proxy Method, then SOCKS5 as the proxy type.

Fill the connection fields

Copy the ProxyLane connection values into Host, Port, Username, and Password. Put only the hostname in Host, without http:// or a port. Use the proxy password, not the account password.

Check and open

Run the proxy connection test. If it succeeds, save the profile and open it from the browser list.

Check the result

  1. Open the IP check inside the new browser window.
  2. Open the same check in a regular browser on the same computer, with its proxy off.
  3. Compare the ip values. Different values confirm a different connection address. If they match, recheck the selected profile and its proxy settings.
  4. Open the intended website in the profile. An IP check alone does not prove that another website accepts the connection.

If the connection fails

If the test fails, confirm the port is in its own field and the proxy method is Custom, rather than a direct connection. Confirm that traffic is available in ProxyLane. Connection troubleshooting covers the next checks. Official BitBrowser setup instructions
