# Keep or change your IP

> Choose what suits the way you browse.

In [Residential proxies](https://proxylane.dev/dashboard/proxies), look for **IP rotation**.

| What you want | Choose |
| ------------------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| A changing IP for separate requests | **Rotate every request** |
| The same IP for several related steps | **Keep the same IP** |
| An IP that changes on a schedule | **Rotate on a timer** |

A **sticky session** means asking to keep the same IP. It can still change if that connection becomes unavailable.

## Set up a sticky session

1. Choose **Keep the same IP**.
2. Open **Advanced settings**. Give the **Session name** a name such as `mybrowser`.
3. Click **Generate connection** and copy the new details to your app.

Use letters and numbers only, up to 64 characters. Give a separate task a different session name.
