# Connect MBBrowser

> Add a ProxyLane residential proxy to an MBBrowser session, then check the connection.

Connect one MBBrowser session to ProxyLane and check its internet protocol (IP) address. Each session then reaches websites from a home IP in the chosen country instead of the computer's own address. [How a proxy works](https://docs.proxylane.dev/proxy-basics.md)

MBBrowser (候鸟浏览器) runs on Windows, so this guide covers the Windows client only.

## Before starting

* [MBBrowser for Windows](https://www.mbbrowser.com/download) 9.18.58.198 or later, installed and signed in
* A [ProxyLane account](https://proxylane.dev/register?utm_source=docs\&utm_medium=referral\&utm_campaign=setup-guides\&utm_content=mbbrowser) with available traffic
* A [generated connection](https://docs.proxylane.dev/quickstart.md) with <kbd>SOCKS5</kbd> selected

SOCKS5 and HTTP are two ways an app talks to a proxy. Both work with ProxyLane, and this guide uses SOCKS5. For an account or a long browsing session, open <kbd>Advanced options</kbd> in ProxyLane and select <kbd>Keep the same IP</kbd>. [A sticky session](https://docs.proxylane.dev/rotating-and-sticky.md) can still change address if its connection becomes unavailable.

## Connect MBBrowser

**1. Create a session**

Click <kbd>Create New Session</kbd> in the bottom left corner of the main panel. Type a name in the session name field.

**2. Enter the proxy**

In the <kbd>Proxy Server</kbd> row, open the type list and select <kbd>SOCKS5</kbd>. Fill the four fields after it from left to right with the [connection values](https://docs.proxylane.dev/connection-settings.md#-copy-it-in-your-app%E2%80%99s-format): host, port, proxy username, and proxy password. Replace any value already in a field, including the port.

Prefer HTTP? Generate an HTTP connection in ProxyLane and select <kbd>HTTP</kbd>, not <kbd>HTTPS</kbd>, in the same list.

**3. Test the proxy**

Click <kbd>Test Proxy</kbd>. With <kbd>Proxy IP automatically check</kbd> selected, the <kbd>PublicIP</kbd> field shows the address the session uses. If the test fails, recheck the four fields before changing anything else.

**4. Match the fingerprint to the proxy**

In the <kbd>FingerPrint</kbd> section, click <kbd>AutoMatch IP/Time...</kbd>. Check that <kbd>TimeZone Setting</kbd>, <kbd>Country</kbd>, and <kbd>Language</kbd> match the proxy location rather than a default value.

**5. Save and open**

Click <kbd>Create Session</kbd>. Click <kbd>Run</kbd> beside the new session in the main panel.

> [!TIP]
>
> 🧭  One account, one session, one proxy. Create a separate ProxyLane connection for each session, and pick the city the account usually logs in from. [Why it matters](https://docs.proxylane.dev/sensitive-accounts.md)

## Check the result

1. Open the [IP check](https://api.ipify.org?format=json) inside the MBBrowser session.
2. Open the same check in a regular browser on the same computer, with its proxy off.
3. Compare the `ip` values. Different values confirm a different connection address. If they match, recheck the session's proxy settings.
4. Open the [ProxyLane IP lookup](https://proxylane.dev/tools/what-is-my-ip) inside the session and confirm the country and city.
5. Open the intended website in the session. An IP check alone does not prove that another website accepts the connection.

## If the connection fails

Recheck the host, port, username, password, and proxy type, and confirm that traffic is available in ProxyLane. The proxy password is not the ProxyLane account password. [Connection troubleshooting](https://docs.proxylane.dev/troubleshooting.md) covers the next checks.

## Set up many sessions

<kbd>Add Proxy</kbd> opens the Proxy Server Manager for importing many proxies at once. <kbd>Add History</kbd> then picks one of the imported proxies for the current session. ProxyLane can [export many connections in one list](https://docs.proxylane.dev/connection-settings.md#-many-proxies-at-once).
