# Connect Firefox

> Use your ProxyLane connection in Firefox.

These steps use **Firefox on desktop**. First, [generate a connection](/quickstart) with **HTTP / HTTPS** selected. Before changing Firefox’s settings, open [the IP check](https://api.ipify.org?format=json) and note your IP.

  <Step title="Open Firefox’s proxy settings">
    In Firefox, open **Settings**, search for **proxy**, then open **Settings** or **Configure proxy** beside the result. Note your current setting so you can restore it later.

  <Step title="Enter your connection">
    Select **Manual proxy configuration**. Copy **Host** and **Port** from [your ProxyLane connection](/connection-settings) into Firefox’s **HTTP Proxy** and **Port** fields.

    Check **Also use this proxy for HTTPS**, then save. When Firefox asks for a username and password, use your generated proxy credentials.

  <Step title="Open a test page">
    Visit [the IP check](https://api.ipify.org?format=json). You should see an `ip` value. Compare it with the IP you noted before setup, then try your intended website.

To stop using the proxy, restore your previous Firefox setting.
